What Is Semi-Private Personal Training, and Is It Right for Me?

semi-private personal training

When it comes to personal training, you might immediately think that means it’s just you and a personal trainer working alone. In reality, there are many types of personal training, such as one-on-one, shared, and group personal training options.

In semi-private personal training (or sometimes we call it shared personal training), you can take advantage of an individualized training program while saving some money in the process.

Keep reading to learn what semi-private personal training is and if it’s the right fit for you.

What Is Semi-Private Personal Training?

Semi-private personal training is when you work with a personal trainer, and someone else is there. At Peak Physique, that means you and one other person work with the same trainer at the same time.

This doesn’t mean you won’t get a customized training program; it just means that during the time you’re exercising, your trainer will be working with the other person to get them started. We know you have a lot of questions about semi-private personal training, so let us answer them!

Will My Workout Partner and I Do the Same Exercises?

From time to time, yes! If the exercise will work for both of you, it would make sense to do them together. However, you may have different weights or styles of performing the activity that the trainer will instruct you on.

Most likely, you’ll end up doing different exercises based on your needs. One day your partner might be someone with a knee replacement, and the next time it could be someone who’s training for a marathon. The beauty of semi-private personal training is the ability to get a great workout with a variety of people.

Will My Trainer Forget About Me?

Absolutely not! During the training session, your personal trainer will be able to help you with your form and make sure you’re exercising correctly.

At Peak Physique, our trainers don’t walk away from you during your session. Our gym is large but not large enough where if they were assisting a client on a machine, they couldn’t keep an eye on you.

Is It Safe?

Of course, it is! Just because there’s more than just you there doesn’t mean it’s any less safe than training one-on-one. We’re still there the entire time, helping you reach your goals.

We also find it to be safer to work out with a certified personal trainer than to work out alone at a large gym. We think about it like teaching children to swim. There’s one instructor for multiple kids, but that doesn’t make it any less safe.

You can count on us to give you a safe and fun workout experience.

Will the Workout Actually Challenge Me?

Yes, it will! Just because you’re working with someone else doesn’t mean the quality of your workout will suffer. You will still have an individual workout designed specifically for you that’s geared toward helping you reach your unique goals.

What if I Don’t Have a Workout Buddy?

That’s okay! We will pair you with someone who is available at the same time as you. If you do three sessions a week, you may see three different people. If you end up really connecting with another client, you can always request to be with each other and create a schedule that works for both of you.

We feel our clients truly turn into our friends, and we love when our clients become friends with each other. It helps to have supportive people in your life who have similar goals as you.

What if Me and Two Other Friends Want to Work Out Together?

Our shared personal training typically involves two people, but if you and two of your friends want to train together, let us know! As a private personal training gym, we have flexibility in what we offer, and we’re here to help you.

Does It Cost the Same as One-On-One Personal Training?

One-on-one personal training will cost more than shared personal training since it’s you and another person sharing the time slot.

Since we can work with two people at once, we can provide each of you with a lower cost without lowering the quality of your workout.
