Gym With Personal Trainer: 6 Tips To Hiring A Personal Trainer

It’s a lot easier to find a gym with a personal trainer than you think! You don’t have to go to a large gym to find the right personal trainer for you.

You just have to find a local gym that offers personal training in a small, personalized setting.

Don’t know how? Then keep reading to learn our six tips for finding the right gym with personal trainer for you.

1. Try Before You Commit

Most gyms with personal trainers offer a trial work out before you commit to working out with them long term. At least the reputable ones do.

It’s imperative for you to work out with the trainer in the facility you’re going to be working with so you understand what it’s going to be like to work out with them. You wouldn’t want to commit to a long term relationship before you ever step foot in the gym or workout with the trainer.

Even if it’s an online training, you should always work out with your trainer once before committing to them.

At Peak Physique, we always offer the first consultation so the trainer and you are on the same page as far as your goals and needs so we can best train you! We feel like with one training session we can prove to you why you should work with us.

2. Look For A Local Personal Training Studio

When you’re trying to find the right gym you should consider all of the locally owned personal training studios. These gyms often provide more one on one training and are much more personable.

Take a look at Peak Physique for example. Nick and I are the owners and we personally know every single one of our clients. We celebrate their successes and help them work through any issues that come up. We take pride in helping our community and we feel good doing it.

3. Look At Past Client Progress

Be upfront and ask about their other clients and how they’re doing. See how often they reach their goals and what their experience was working with the trainers. If they don’t have any clients that are happy or meeting their goals, then you can expect the same for yourself.

If the gym you’re looking at does have happy clients who are consistently reaching their goals then you can feel confident the trainers are going to help you do that as well.

4. Look At Their Online Presence

A good local trainer should have at least some type of online presence. Whether it’s Google reviews, a Facebook page, or a well-built website, this speaks volumes to the type of company you’re going to work for.

Our goal at Peak Physique is to help people meet their fitness goals in a supportive and educational environment. We have spent countless hours creating plans for our clients and writing content on our blog to educate and help our clients get the most out of their training.

5. Make Sure They’re Certified

In this covid environment, a lot of people think they can hop on a Zoom call and become a personal trainer. The truth is it can be extremely dangerous to your health if your trainer pushes you too hard or doesn’t correct your form.

Before you start your first training session ask them about what certifications they have and what education they have. All of our trainers at Peak Physique are certified personal trainers, and when they work for us we also vet them to ensure they’re qualified personal trainers.

You can feel confident working with our trainers, knowing they have the education and resources to help you reach your goals.

6. Do They Even Work Out?

You can tell a lot about your personal trainer the first time you meet them. One of the first things you’ll notice is whether or not they practice what they preach. Quite plainly, you need to look to see if your trainer is in good shape or not.

We know it’s not fair to judge a book by its cover, but when it comes to your physical health you have to do just that. Your trainer doesn’t need to be the biggest, strongest person out there, but they should at least have definition, and be in good shape.

This tells you whether or not they have the passion for training, or if they’re just doing this to pay the bills. We get it, paying bills is important, but so is your health. Our trainers have a passion for personal training and will help you develop that passion as well.
