Client Spotlight: Jon Berti

At Peak Physique, we believe fitness is about more than just sets and reps; it’s about growth, confidence, and showing up for yourself, day after day. No one embodies that better than longtime client and professional athlete Jon Berti.
Jon started working with Nick back in the fall of 2007, when he was just 17 years old.
“I had just quit hockey to fully commit to baseball,” he remembers. “It was my first time really strength training, and I knew I needed to get serious if I wanted to take the next step.”
From day one, his goals were clear:
- Build muscle
- Improve strength
- Get faster and more explosive on the field
Through customized training and consistent accountability, Jon put on 20 pounds of muscle before his freshman year of college. But more than that, he gained a mindset and a team that’s supported him every step of the way into the Major Leagues.
“The flexibility within my customized workout has helped me to be my best going into each season. Every offseason has its own goals for how I want to improve. Nick has always worked closely with me to help customize my plan to put me in a great position for each year. ”
That’s what we mean when we say we don’t do cookie-cutter. Every athlete, every parent, every client who trains with us gets a plan designed for them. And for Jon, that plan has grown with him, from high school fields to MLB stadiums.
But the physical gains are just one part of the story. When asked what really makes Peak Physique different, Jon doesn’t hesitate:
“The atmosphere is fun and inviting. I always enjoy going to the gym. But the trainers also know how to push you to strive to be your best. It’s a great balance of being able to relieve stress but also being able to get the most out of yourself and your workouts.”
Even during the busy MLB season, when Jon’s on the road, the support doesn’t stop.
“Even during the season, while I’m away, Nick keeps tabs on me. When I hit a rough patch, he texted me to help motivate me to keep going!”
Empowered, not exhausted. That’s the mindset Jon has taken with him on and off the field. One reminder from Nick especially stuck with him:
“Rest at the end, not in the middle.”
It’s a simple phrase, but it’s helped Jon power through workouts, challenges, and even hard personal moments.
As someone who’s trained in both high-performance settings and everyday life, Jon says working with a personal trainer changed everything.
“I have loved the personal trainer experience. I believe you get way more out of your workouts and are able to keep yourself healthy and in better shape.”
And what is his advice for anyone thinking about starting their own journey with Peak Physique?
“To trust the process. Nick, Lissa, and all the trainers have a lot of experience. There is always a method to what they are doing to help you accomplish your individual goals.”
