The reason we say abs are made in the kitchen and not in the gym is because, without a proper diet, you won’t be able to see the abs you made in the gym. If you exercise the recommended amount and focus on your core, you will gain muscles. However, if you never change your diet and aren’t eating healthy foods, all of the work you do in the gym is offset by your food. 

Let’s say you burn 400 calories in a workout every day. But you go home and eat unhealthy, high-calorie foods. Now, your work in the gym goes to burning those calories rather than burning stored fat.

If you exercise, then come home to eat healthy meals, your body will be able to start burning fat rather than burning the food you just consumed. We will always preach that food is fuel. Never try to starve your body to reduce calories. 

So, Do I Even Need to Workout?

We hear you. If abs are made in the kitchen, why can’t you just eat your way to abs? You can eat your way to a flatter stomach; however, without exercise, there will be no abs to show off!
